As a result of our rapidly expanding global customer base our IT Services team has opportunities in our London office. As a Infrastructure Engineer you will be responsible for the support, ongoing maintenance and future development of the BRIT Infrastructure. The ability to troubleshoot systems and work under pressure is essential. This role will include managing projects from start to finish, building servers, dealing with escalated issues, troubleshooting performance issues and supporting system maintenance and upgrades at weekends. The role will also include the potential for learning other operating systems/management/application systems managed by this team.  

Key Responsibilities

  • A degree or higher education, ideally in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology is essential (2:1 or higher)
  • Amazon cloud (EC2) design and implementation
  • Automating Back Office operations with Puppet, Jenkins, etc.
  • Keeping the availability of systems to a maximum using Linux (CentOS) and MySQL, Riak, including replication and clustering.
  • Aiding developers in keeping systems up time to a maximum, and assisting in the core system scripting (e.g. BASH, CSH, etc.).
  • Ability to plan and implement your own projects and work as part of a project team.
  • Ability to create and maintain strong working relationships both with the Global IT teams.
  • Calmness under pressure and ability to maintain a positive attitude
  • Experience in supporting highly available, low latency systems desirable

As an experienced team member you will help lead the building of the next generation of financial trading applications. You will deliver resilient, high performance trading solutions to a rapidly changing marketplace. You will be involved with developing core components of ATLAS, such as gateways to Central Clearers and interfacing with our clients' systems. The development will be done using Java on the Linux operating system. The role will include close liaison with the rest of our global development team.

Key Responsibilities

• Development and testing of core components of ATLAS. • Working closely with the project team and manager to deliver these components on time. • Writing high-level and detailed technical design documents. • Ensuring the production of quality deliverables using quality assurance methods including peer reviews and unit testing. • Active participation in design reviews. • Providing technical product guidance and assistance to other teams within BRIT such as support and consultancy services.

Candidate Background

• At least 2 years experience of Java programming. • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Skillset requirements

• Java development on Linux to Expert Level; including: • Spring – experienced in dependency injection • Hibernate • Maven • MySQL/Oracle • Message routing and Enterprise patterns e.g. Apache Camel • JMS message brokers e.g. IBM MQ, ActiveMQ • Building and connecting to RESTfil Services • Git. • Any experience of C# would be a distinct advantage. The role would ideally suit a delivery focused Developer and presents a great opportunity to progress your career in this dynamic sector of the software market. As an experienced team member you will help lead the development effort on the next generation of financial trading applications. You will deliver resilient, high performance trading solutions to a rapidly changing marketplace. You will be involved with developing core components of ATLAS, such as gateways to Central Clearers and interfacing with our clients' systems. The development will be done using C# on Windows 7 desktop environment. The role will include close liaison with the rest of our global development team.

Key Requirements:

As a Software Support Analyst you will work in a team providing first and second line application support for our ATLAS platform. On a day to day basis you will be involved with performing system health checks on our clients’ systems and responding to issues from clients via phone and email. The role will involve a substantial amount of troubleshooting and investigation in order to work out appropriate solutions so will appeal to candidates who enjoy analysis and problem solving. As the role is client facing and will involve considerable interaction with our clients, the ideal candidate will possess an outgoing personality and the energy and initiative to respond quickly, take appropriate action and provide a high quality support service. The role will include shift work flexibility to work unsocial hours, thus be on call is also required.
